John Kricfalusi and Preston Blair can helping Artists realise their potential.

Hi,

Here is my take on it.

Growing up, my Foster parents and my Biological Parents didn't express any kind of Artistic or Creative flare that I was aware of. I found myself interested in Art and Creative persuits through Teachers who inspierd me to follow in their footsteps. I took a long time to make progress, as my creations were either ignored or critisised at home.

It has taken me a long time to realise that I need to go back to basics and fine tune my drawing skills, to realise my true potential. I know that it is there, dormant, as I have been pouring my creativity and time into learning 3D Applications for many years now and coming up with marketable results. I do realise now that if I had concentrated on the basics of drawing at the start, I would have realised a much greater potential by now.

This leads me into the point that I am trying to make. My three children have developed, watching my Wife and myself drawing and producing 2D/3D Illustrations since day one. They have all developed their own unique style. My oldest Daughter, at twelve years of age has developed her ability to the level of a High School graduate. She is realising her potential.

I feel that anyone can be creative and realise their potential with the correct enviroment and most importantly encouragement.

Just watching my children realise their own potential is inspirational and has encouraged me to go back to basics in order to realise my own potential.

This is how I am going to do it.:

The link above takes you to a blog by Stephen Worth of the ASIFA Hollywood - International Film Society.

The Blog explains how John Kicfalusi, the Artist behind Ren and Stimpy has started a Blog to help teacher Artists the basics of Drawing and Animating toon characters. John uses a book by Preston Blair, a famous Disney animator to help teach the basics. I believe that following this free course could help any Artist here on Spinquad to realise their potential by learning the drawing techniques outlined in the blog.

Hope this helps guys. Remember, Persistence and Determination can produce talent all of it's own.
